Hi, I’m Erin. I’m the happiest Rapunzel.

I’m a bookish mom who used to think Rapunzel was stupid for escaping. I mean, Raps was living in a tower with a great view, quietly crafting and reading all day while someone brought her food and brushed her hair. This sounds heavenly when you have small kids at home. However, having raised those sweet kids into almost adults and then holed up for a while with a global pandemic, it is clear that leaving the house and connecting with people creates more happiness.

I want to drag my travel mindset everywhere from Abu Dhabi to the Winn Dixie down the street without taking any of it too seriously. I like my fun to have hip checks and elbow nudges, preferably over bad puns. After the end of a long marriage, I’ve focused on solo travel and found it to be an amazing path to self discovery. I like to pack light with a loose itinerary. I enjoy the wrong turns and messy misadventures. I’d rather linger longer at a cafe than hustle around on a big touristy scavenger hunt. I travel like I’ll revisit every destination – balancing seeing some of the everything with doing some nothing.

In addition to cramming as much travel as possible into my budget and calendar, I’m working on building a bigger social world by forcing myself out of my crumb-laden, couch-goblin comfort zone. Because these forays feel travel-adjacent in attitude, you’ll find some blog posts about that too. I’m really challenging myself to create more connection in 2025 so please say hi!
